Sample Schedule
Tuesday Didactics
On Tuesday afternoons, residents have protected time for academic lectures. The 18-month education curriculum, which was completely revamped in 2020, features lectures on all neurologic subspecialties. Lectures are led by faculty members at Georgetown, Washington Hospital Center, NIH and Children’s National Medical Center. Each week, a different topic is highlighted, exposing residents to the breadth and depth of neurology, with an additional focus on board preparation.
Resident Teaching and Journal Club
The curriculum also features a variety of resident teaching opportunities. At our monthly journal club, featuring a different neurologic subspecialty each month, PGY-3s present an article and lead a discussion between residents and faculty. At our monthly book chapter review, PGY-4s present an interactive lecture on focused topics in neuroanatomy. Other unique lectures feature topics on career planning, diversity and inclusion, wellness, and financial planning.
Weekly Case Conferences
Residents also participate in weekly case conferences at Washington Hospital Center and Georgetown during their assigned rotations. These highly interactive conferences highlight the most interesting and educational inpatient cases with a focus on localization
Grand Rounds
On Thursdays, residents attend multidisciplinary Grand Rounds, featuring speakers in neurology, neuroradiology and neurosurgery.
